Discover the art of Indian hand block printing with Kaushiki Gon, founder of the textile brand Sooteē. Inspired by traditional craftsmanship and thoughtful, sustainable design, this hands-on workshop invites you to create your own patterns using hand-carved wooden blocks and fabric dyes.

Rooted in a philosophy of caring for the planet, the artisan, and the individual, Sooteē brings traditional Indian textile practices into a contemporary context.

Kaushiki will introduce you to the history and techniques of hand block printing, then guide you through the process of creating your own designs. You’ll experiment with patterns and colors on paper before printing onto fabric. Each participant will receive four 20" × 20" sheets of cotton fabric to transform into unique pieces to take home.

Complimentary fresh garden tea will be served throughout the session.

When: Saturday, November 21, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Where: Loop of the Loom – DUMBO Studio (197 Plymouth St, Brooklyn, NY)

Sooteē

Sooteē creates timeless, heirloom-quality textiles rooted in care for the planet, artisans, and you. Using top-quality Belgian linen, rain-fed cotton, and hand-spun wool, every piece is slowly handcrafted in India using traditional hand-block printing and weaving techniques. Embracing the beauty of subtle imperfection, no two textiles are ever exactly alike.

Founded by Kaushiki Gon—a designer trained at Parsons School of Design in New York—Sooteē reflects a deeply considered, craft-led philosophy. Working side-by-side with generational artisans in rural India, Kaushiki creates sustainable pieces that honor traditional heritage, minimize waste, and respect both material and environment.
