From Luxury Waste to Handcrafted Yarn

We’re thrilled to introduce our new line of sustainable, hand-dyed yarns. Each 4-ply skein is made from 50% cashmere and 50% recycled fibers.

Blending the luxurious softness of cashmere with the strength of recycled fibers, this yarn offers an exceptional balance of comfort and durability. Stronger than 100% wool, it’s ideal for warping in weaving and will be loved by both knitters and weavers for its versatility.

This special yarn is sourced from Filpucci, a renowned Milan-based luxury fiber manufacturer, as part of their Relux collection. We chose Filpucci’s Relux line after a year-long, international search for a sustainable yarn that met our high-quality standards. To feel the actual yarn, I visited their New York showroom in the Garment District, and I learned about their innovative regenerated yarn combining pre-consumer recycled wool and cashmere fibers.

Filpucci’s partnership, Re-Verso™, recovers fabric waste and sweaters from factories, companies, and customers in the fashion industry. The materials are carefully sorted by hand and then mechanically shredded. Filpucci transforms these fibers into regenerated yarns.

The company selects raw materials with a lower environmental and social impact — those that are recycled, regenerated, certified, traceable, made with organic fibers, and/or connected to sustainable initiatives.

Their commitment to reducing waste in the textile industry and developing circular production methods is inspiring and resonates deeply with our company values.

After sourcing the Relux yarn from Filpucci, we brought it to new life with color at our studio by hand-dying each skein with Japanese Bengala Mud dye, an all-natural pigment made from mineral-rich soil (learn more about Bengala Mud Dye here).

We’re debuting our new yarn collection later this month at the Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival! Beginning mid-October, they will also be available for purchase at both of our NYC locations for $28 per 100g skein. Get some for your next project while supplies last!
