“Long-life cotton” that is friendly to people and the earth
We use cotton grown by contracted farmers in soil that has never used pesticides or fertilizers, and work with producers to create products that are natural, sustainable, and long-lasting.
“Garabo” of Masuhisa’’s is an old-fashioned spinning machine that spins threads slowly while making rattling noises “gara gara”. It was invented in Japan by 臥雲辰致 (Gaun Tacchi) in the early Meiji period (1868 – 1912).
The spinning speed is 1/100 or less compared to modern spinning machines. The slow-moving machine creates a comfortable feel. Masuhisa's “Garabo” spun yarn, cultivated through the experience of hand-spun yarn production, is as soft as a baby's downy hair, and is infused with the gentleness of nature.
