April 3rd - May 1st, 2022
Loop of the Loom - Dumbo
In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, Loop of the Loom is proud to host an exhibit of works by Individual SAORI Artist and former student, Lorenzo DiAndrea.
Lorenzo DiAndrea was born with autism and abnormalities in his spine and chest. His process of more than 30 surgical procedures had just begun when he first came to the Loop of the Loom in 2005 at the age of nine. His mother, Michelle became more involved in SAORI weaving as he grew up, and she shared her weaving studio with children with disabilities, giving Lorenzo the opportunity to teach them.

Lorenzo’s artwork reflects his innate ability to spread joy and generosity while opening pathways for interconnection among people and places. He is able to use his skills and knowledge of weaving to nurture important relationships with family, friends, and community. As you take in and move with the color, pattern, texture of Lorenzo’s expressions, may you feel his invitation for reconnection that brings us “closer together.”
