Experience Zen Weaving

Zen Weaving is a contemporary textile art based on Japanese Zen principles. Our simple approach is meditative and frees your creativity to connect deeply with your true self.

Feel the rhythm. Find your flow. Weave your story.

Step into a space where your hands move freely, your mind finds stillness. Loop of the Loom is a space for mindfulness and discovery, offering timeless crafts of weaving, dyeing, stitching, and spinning using natural materials. The studio provides effortless, joyful, and creative experiences for curious beginners and exploratory artists alike.

Since 2005, we've led tens of thousands into this practice of weaving to awaken a sense of presence and tactile experience in our increasingly abstracted and automated world.

I'm struggling to find the words to describe how amazing this experience was. I was a little unsure before booking but I ended up having quite the emotional response to the weaving. To create something tactile was so cathartic and I felt like it was a much-needed release from the typical day-to-day. Book this ASAP. The studio is in a beautiful part of the city and the instructor was so helpful and kind. She really gave you free rein to create a piece of art as you see fit. Definitely one of the most beautiful experiences I've had. I can't wait to come back and take another class!

Loop of the Loom is a peaceful and meditative space where beginners and masters of craft can each find a space. After 2 hours you will not only leave with a piece of work you created, a sense of accomplishment, but also a tapestry of memories. The art our family of four made has sparked new conversations, connections, reflections, and perspectives. There is a freedom to choose, explore and learn with curiosity.

What a wonderfully unique way to experience Brooklyn! I was able to take home a souvenir that you can't buy anywhere in New York. It is something I'll remember forever. Everything is set up for you and ready to go. I was weaving before I even realized what was going on! You learn different techniques and how to incorporate various materials to create different looks. I have painted, sculpted, thrown clay and taken portraits, but this incorporated every avenue of brain like no other medium. AND IT IS EASY! You can certainly attempt more difficult techniques, but ANYONE can sit down and weave together a beautiful piece to take home. I can't recommend it enough!

You will 100% love this experience! I went for my birthday and had a blast trying different fabrics and techniques. My instructor was patient and let me take over when I felt comfortable. She didn't hover or overextend, which I appreciated. I highly recommend this experience for solo travelers, couples, first dates, and anyone who wants to get out and enjoy the city.

“My boyfriend booked a two-hour beginner class for us. I was kind of nervous when we first arrived since I am not a very artsy person. But I had so much fun!! Was trying very hard to match the color in the beginning, but the reality seemed to be they would look good no matter what, so don't think too much, just go for it!! We both love the tapestry we made and thought it was a great place for a date. The instructor was very helpful but also quite hands-off, for us to maximize our creativity.”

“You don’t need any weaving experience nor do you need any great creative ability. It’s easy & fun! You are guided in just the right way and at just the right pace. They do not push. Instead, they give you space and time to create according to your own interests. Two hours flew by! I’d love to do it again. If you prefer something off the beaten path, a quiet respite from the hustle & bustle of NYC, with a creative aspect to it, you will love this experience!”

“We took a friend here for his birthday, and it was wonderful! Amazing experience, we had a lot of fun, and this is definitely a great birthday activity to spend good, creative time with your friends. This was my first time weaving, the instructors were great, and the thing I ended up making will always remind me of the great time we had!”

“What a magical place! walking down the steps you might not imagine the sanctuary you'll be entering into... so tranquil and beautiful. and the weaving! the teachers there were patient, easy-going, and helpful. I wish I could do this every day! highly recommend a day of weaving for settling the mind and heart and allowing expression to come forth through color and threads woven together in various ways. thank you, Loop of the Loom. I will be back!”
